Musician Leaving MySpace for .COM
November 12, 2009 0 CommentsIn this interesting blog post, Brian of the band
Therefore I Am laments the downward spiral of
mySpace as a good place for a rock band to connect with
fans.
A few great quotes...
About mySpace:
"Now if people want to check out my band they are bombarded with movie ads and singles dating ads and other bands and videos of people getting hit in the balls"
About someone else owning the COM domain for his band:
"tempted to register www.fucktheguywhoownsthereforeiam.com"
What to do next?
"In the near future we're going to have a new website and we're going to try and make it as interesting and thorough as possible"
My take on this: It's critical to use
all available digital assets to advertise
your band. You can't just depend on mySpace or bandCamp.com or
Twitter.
